Select any folder, click Organize Now, and TheOrganizer reads every file's extension, matches it to your configured folder types, creates the subfolders, and moves the files. A folder with 2,000 mixed files is fully organized in seconds.

TheOrganizer handles the edge cases automatically: if a file is already in the right folder it's skipped; if two files share a name the duplicate is renamed (e.g., report (2).pdf) rather than overwritten.

Preview Mode performs a full dry-run of the organization without moving a single file. It shows you a complete list of which files would go where, which folders would be created, and which files would be skipped — so you can review and adjust before committing.

Every organize operation is recorded in an undo journal. If you change your mind, the Undo button restores every moved file to its original location — even cleaning up the empty subfolders that were created. Undo is always available until you run the next session.

Watch Mode monitors a folder in real time. Whenever a new file lands in that folder, TheOrganizer automatically organizes it within seconds. This is perfect for your Downloads folder — every downloaded file is instantly sorted without any manual action.

When Watch Mode is active, TheOrganizer runs in the system tray so it stays out of your way. You can stop watching at any time from the tray icon.

TheOrganizer ships with six default categories (PDFs, Images, Videos, Documents, Executables, ZIPs), but your workflow is unique. Create unlimited custom folder types — define exactly which extensions belong inside each one and name them anything you like.

The Rules Engine lets you create powerful conditions to route files to specific folders based on more than just their extension. Combine multiple conditions for precise control.

• Age conditions: older than or newer than (hours / days)
• Rules are evaluated before default folder types — full priority control

Standard mode only processes files in the top-level folder. Enable Recursive Mode to process files inside every subfolder too — perfect for media libraries, project folders, or anywhere files are scattered across multiple levels.
